As my daughter is celebrating Johnny Appleseed school at week, and we are looking at our almost empty apple tree which yielded us a good amount of apples this year, I decided to keep it simple and current for my Yummy Tummy Tuesday post with apples!
Apples – peeled, cored and chopped
(I did not use a corer but just cut out the hard parts, mushy parts and the seeds from the apples and chopped them)
Put a little water (about 1/2 an inch) in the bottom of a heavy bottomed pan and add the apples.
Cover and let it cook on medium-low flame till reduced to sauce consistency. Keep stirring at regular intervals to prevent sticking to the bottom and to prevent burning the sauce.
The whole process took me about an hour and a half (from cutting the apples to the sauce)
Result: My daughter who does not love any apple sauces anywhere anytime (right from the Gerber bottles at age 4 months to the apple sauce in her hot lunch menu at elementary school) said “I love this sauce, amma”.
That made my day and as we finished our first batch of apple sauce, I made a second batch yesterday.
