When I first opened the bottle of the Tropical Traditions
Coconut Oil and took one whiff, I was transported back to childhood – it
brought back wonderful memories – this is in spite of the fact that I have been
using other brands of coconut oil at home always but this is so aromatic, so
really coconut, so much the true smell that I was back home over two decades
ago and having my mom massage my hair with coconut oil while the smells of her
yummy cooking were in the background, again with coconut oil.

Now, back to the present and here. I received the bottles of oil packaged so well
I did not want to open it at first but when my coconuty self won out soon
enough and I did open it, I wanted to use it immediately. Coconut oil is a
staple in our homes – we use it for so many purposes including cooking. I
remember going to school with pigtails and my hair glistening and naturally
perfumed with coconut oil. And now my little girl wants to as well!

In the past few weeks, I have used Tropical Traditions Gold
Label Organic Virgin Coconut Oil in our traditional Indian cooking as well as
for baking and both worked out so well that I know I am going to be using this
more regularly now. Here are a couple of
recipes from my blog where you can use coconut oil instead of the oil/butter
mentioned in similar quantities – Green
beans and mung and Multigrain
Berry Coffeecake. There are also wonderful recipes to try out on the
Tropical Traditions website. They also sell other wonderful products I plan to try out soon, including some familiar – like the shredded coconut which is also a regular item in our traditional recipes; and the new – like the coconut flour – I had not heard of this before till I saw their website and now I am intrigued and interested and totally want to try this product.
