Rehashing the past with this one as I dust off this forgotten post from the archives (July 2013 actually).. and split it up into two posts – one this and the other posted earlier this week (Unletters!). These photos were from a long-ago trip (in 2013) where we drove past lions, and tigers, and bears as well!! Reminded me of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!
Lions, Tigers, Bears to sight..
Butterflies to delight, snakes to fright-
en, while deers cavort and jump with zeal
as we inch past them in our cage on wheels
Elephants enjoying their morning splash
Tortoises enjoying their cabbage mash
All this and more, I promise we will see
In our trip today, fact not fantasy!

More About Tigers
Since I am talking about tigers, here are Ten Terrific Books Featuring Tigers!
A few fun facts about tigers:
- They are the largest wild cats in the world, weighing up to 660 lbs!!
- Tigers are strong swimmers, and love to cool off in the water.
- Their stripes are unique to each individual tiger, just like human fingerprints.
- Tigers have been around along than humans – over 2 million years!!
- Tigers are part of many cultures through myths and stories. I myself, am a tiger, per the Chinese zodiac!
Six in Six..
When I went over to link up to the Six Word Saturday linky with my ancient post, I noticed the Six in Six bookish challenge up there, and decided to put in some effort for this one in addition to rehashing the past!
While I cannot do the six books in six categories right now, here are my six books across categories that I enjoyed in the past six months. I simply wrote down the first six I recalled though I read many, many more!
- Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese
- Kiki’s Delivery Service by Eiko Kadono with illustrations by Yuta Onoda. Translated by Emily Balistrieri
- The Spell of a Story by Mariajo Ilustrajo
- Supercommunicators by Charles Duhigg
- The Unknown Unknown by Mark Forsyth
- When the Skies Rained Freedom by Annette Oppenlander
And Now, the End of This Post
Dear reader, when was your last tiger sighting? And where? Which are your favorite books of the past six months? Have you read any of these books?
I think that is a beautiful thing to do for your children. I think I have heard where they also keep a journal and write about important things that happened on certain days. Something such as the first day they crawled or walked. They write when, where, and how the parents felt and how the baby reacted. I wonder if it would be harder to write about their teenager years but then I guess you could ask them questions and write their answers. I wish I had thought about something like this. Yes, you still have time, and I hope you do it. I think it would be a really cool thing to do. That is a nice poem and this trip would be a good thing to write about.
Happy Theme Thursday and I hope you had a great week.
God bless.
Glad my post inspired you to join the six in six meme. I’ll have to take a look at your six – I haven’t read any of them.
