NaBloPoMo’s work related prompt for today is:
What is the best way to relax after a hard day?
My best way to relax after a hard day has changed little over the years. When I was a little girl, a girl just out to earn her way in the world, a partner in a marriage, or now when I am a mom, I have realized that I am still the same me, somewhere inside, who loves to read. So reading remains my favorite way to relax at any time of the day.
After an especially hard day, I do prefer to read romances – my guilty pleasure in reading. I started out reading romances with Mills and Boons (Betty Neals was one author I remember reading a lot), went through Nora Roberts, and now love reading historical romances (Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, among others).
Reading to my little ones also helps me relax a lot – any book they are reading/want to read but especially authors like Silverstein, Dahl, Seuss are read over and over again.
On some days, my other guilty pleasure takes over – TV – I love emotional, feel-good, witty TV shows and some teen dramas tooJ – like ‘Gilmore Girls’, ‘Glee’, ‘Drop Dead Diva’, ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and so many more. Our Netflix subscription is sure put to use!
Both excerpts today – For Book Beginnings: and The Friday 56: – are from the book – ‘The Fox’ by D.H.Lawrence. It is more truly a novella and I picked it up to work towards my reading challenges. I am loving this read and should be done with it soon.
For Book Beginnings:
The two girls were usually known by their surnames, Banford and March. They had taken the farm together, intending to work it all by themselves: that is, they were going to rear chickens, make a living by poultry and add to this by keeping a cow and raising one or two young
beasts. Unfortunately things did not turn out well.
beasts. Unfortunately things did not turn out well.
For The Friday 56:
‘Silly things! Silly things!’ cried Banford, going forward to turn them off. But they came eagerly towards her, opening their yellow-green beaks and quacking as if they were so
excited to say something.

My Friday Flash 55 –
The Mayan end is almost here
So much we still have to do, oh dear!
Places unseen, books unread,
Adventures unstarted
Feel like Wonderland’s White Rabbit
Saying ‘.. too late’. – ‘where is time – grab it’
Then I wonder what I shall do next year
Once I hurry and complete all those things I said earlier.
There was never enough time even before the end of the world.
between you and me…
