Book Beginnings: This is a weekly meme hosted by ‘A Few More Pages’.
How to participate: Share the first line (or two) of the
book you are currently reading on your blog or in the
comments. Include the title and the author so we know what
you’re reading. Then, if you would like, let us know what your
first impressions were based on that first
line, and let us know if you liked or did not like the
sentence. The link-up will be at A Few More Pages every Friday and will be open for the entire week.
“First the colors. Then the humans. That’s usually how I see things. Or at least, how I try.
HERE IS A SMALL FACT You are going to die.”

The Friday 56 is a bookish meme
sponsored by Freda’s Voice. It is really easy to participate. Just
grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56. Find a sentence that grabs
you and post it.
“As we both know, Liesel wasn’t on hand on Himmel Street when Rudy performed his act of childhood infamy. When she looked back, though, it felt like she’d actually been there. In her memory, she had somehow become a member of Rudy’s imaginary audience.”
Zusak, Markus (2007-12-18). The Book Thief (p. 56). Knopf Books for Young Readers. Kindle Edition.
I really like the beginning of this one. I want to know what the act of childhood infamy was.
This book has been on my wish list for quite awhile. I think I'll move it up a notch or two.
Sounds like a lovely read!
P. 58 quote:
"Both of us are smart, and we know it. But the thing that brings us closer than intelligence is anger. You and I are two of the angriest people I know."
The Great Gilly Hopkins
Katherine Paterson
