I had hoped to get this post up earlier, but…. Well, here it is now. I have always enjoyed following the Cybils Awards in the past; and reading the nominated books as well as the winners. This time, I decided to try to see if I can go behind the scenes, and yes, I am!! I am truly excited to be a part of the Cybils awards this year as a round-one judge for the nonfiction category.
About the Cybils Awards
For those of you who might now know, the above picture kind of says it all, doesn’t it? But this below description from the website tells you what the awards is all about:
The Cybils Awards aims to recognize the children’s and young adult authors and illustrators whose books combine the highest literary merit and popular appeal. If some la-di-dah awards can be compared to brussels sprouts, and other, more populist ones to gummy bears, we’re thinking more like organic chicken nuggets. We’re yummy and nutritious.
So yes, totally wonderful!! Nominations for the Cybils awards are currently on through the 15th of October. And what’s more, anyone can nominate! So if you have a book you think deserves an award, then please nominate; you can find more details and nominate here.
I will be reading, well devouring books, over the next few weeks along with others in this great panel to select the best handful of nonfiction books in each age range. Then our shortlists will go on to a second panel of judges to select the winner. I look forward to your nominations and read more wonderful books in the process.
And Now, the End of This Post
Dear reader, I hope you will nominate for your favorite books for these awards. After all, the books deserve more recognition, don’t they? As for me, I have lots of reading to do, and will be posting my regular posts as well as more as always here.
How exciting to be a part of this. Awards make our efforts even more worthwhile, don’t they? I look forward to reading more about the books you will be consuming during this time!
thank you! and yes, awards do make it better 🙂 someday i hope to write a book too, until then, i will read them:… and yes, share them here
Congratulations on being a round-one judge for the nonfiction category! How awesome to be an integral part of something you love!

I don’t keep up much on awards but this sounds interesting 🙂
I knew of this from other awesome book bloggers – including Deb Nance at ReaderBuzz – a few years ago… and this year, her post prompted me to apply to be a judge..
these awards are interesting
There is still so much going on in the literary world that I don’t know about, including this one.
