What makes a gift truly special? For me, the answer is pretty simple – make it a book (or bookish!). For children, it’s the wonder of discovery, the joy of adventure, an experience that sparks imagination, and adds a touch of magic as well. A book does that all, and that’s why books make such incredible gifts. I have a list of perfect children’s books gift and then some extras too!
Perfect as stocking stuffers, meaningful presents, or a family read-aloud, these books have something for everyone, and I love the discounts too at this time of the year, making them all both delightful and affordable!!

The Best Children’s Books to Gift this Holiday Season
How to Catch the Christmas Magic With Books
Get ready for festive fun with the wildly imaginative How to Catch series! These Christmassy adventures bring the joy of the season to life with loads of fun. Whether you’re chasing down a mischievous elf, a runaway gingerbread man, or an elusive snowman, these books deliver humor, heart, and a touch of holiday mischief.
I have mentioned the How to Catch series earlier on my blog and highly recommend the complete collection (25 books). My favorites so far are the unicorn, the dinosaur, and the dragon.
- You can get the complete How to Catch Christmas Collection or maybe you would prefer to figure out How to Catch
- an Elf! (get activity kit here)
- or maybe a Snowman. So much excitement within these pages, and more for you if you want here
- how about a Gingerbread Man. This book takes you on a literary adventure of sorts and I delighted in seeing all the references within.
- maybe Santa Claus himself. Santa has too much to do and sees through the clever traps here to evade capture, or does he? Read the book to find out, and add to the fun with this activity kit
- or a Reindeer that might get you to the North Pole too! Will carrots entice the reindeer, any one of them? Explore activities here.
The artwork in all these How to Catch books is full of fun details and vibrant and beautiful as well, while the rhyming text is clever and catchy!

There are so many I loved but I am listing the ones at the top – the ones I really enjoyed reading and will happily gift, read again, and simply look through anytime of the year.
- Don’t Push the Button! A Christmas Adventure. If you have read Cotter’s Don’t Push the Button and enjoyed it, you will totally want to add this one to your list.
- Home for the Holidays. I always enjoy a stroll down Sesame Street, and this one warmed my heart with its salute to holidays around the world as friends on the street celebrate each one with joy and cheer.
- The Little Red Sleigh. Oh my! Stunning and heartwarming and so full of holiday magic. This one encourages readers to dream the impossible, and know that no matter what, you can achieve it.
- Twas the Night Before Christmas. This version of the familiar read is so charming and delightful! You will not realize how much you needed this book until you get it for yourself! Plus the art is postcard perfect.
