As the blog post title says, this is the last of my bookish summer posts. While my life and my blog both feature books prominently, this post is my way of bidding adieu to my bookish summer series of posts.
In the beginning, there was…
- a list of potential posts, and
- a photograph of books I planned to read
In the end, here is what I did do….
- did follow the ideas I had for some of my posts; and for others, took a turn in the road….
- still have untapped ideas from that list of potentials! Loads, actually that I never ended up using so you will see those in the future sometime
- read some of the books on that list, reviewed fewer, still yet to start on one – that mega-sized book at the bottom, and had to return a few(many) unread/partially read to the library (with a fine as well, oops!)
Bookish Summer Book Update
So what did I (partially) read and how did I like them? Here is a quick update:
- Why We Write: I loved this book; and the review post for this is in progress (has been for a while now) so you will see it soon here on my blog.
- More Girls Who Rocked the World: Read my dd’s review of this book here on this post
- Brief Histories of Everyday Objects: My dd offered(?) to review this one for me as well – here.
- What is Your One Sentence?: I enjoyed what I read of it, and got lost in the exercises; actually delayed in reading with the exercises. I had to return this one before heading out on vacation but plan to borrow it again to read it well this time around.
- Hot X Algebra Exposed: A fun way to learn math definitely, and I plan to borrow it again to use it later this school year as I work with my dd.
- Are You Smart Enough to Work at Google?: A fun read for those who enjoy puzzles and brainteasers…and reviewed here.
- On Being 40ish: Read my mini-review of this little gem here.
- The Afterwards: I did enjoy this book while my dd did not get into it as much (not sure why so I do plan to find out).. but my review will be here on my blog soon
- How to Invent Everything: Another one I had to return when we headed out on vacation. It is a blast into the past, literally, and I had a blast reading it (or what little I did).. And I will be continuing the read when I get a chance
- How the World Words: The Periodic Table: Another interesting read I hope to continue as soon as I can..
